Kalavad, also spelled as Kalawad, is a small town located in the eastern part of Jamnagar district in the state of Gujarat. It is situated at the coordinate of 22.22° North latitude and 70.38° East longitude. . The town is the administrative headquarters of Kalavad Taluka.
Kalavad at a GlanceKalavad is located at the intersection of Gujarat State Highway 26 and 23. Within the city, GJ SH 26 is referred both as Dhoraji Road and Jamnagar-Junagadh Highway. The road starts from Bedeshwar and ends at Veraval crossing important towns like Jamnagar, Kalavad, Jamkandorana, Dhoraji, Junagadh, Mendarada, Sasan and Talal on the way. GJ SH 23 on the other hand, starts from Rajkot and runs through Kalavad, Khatiya and Lalpur to culminate at Khambhalia. It is generally referred as Rajkot Road.

Among them, GJ SH 23 runs through the northern part of the city from west to east; thus dividing it in two unequal north and south portions. GJ SH 26 on the other hand runs in north south direction right through the middle of town; thus bifurcating it into east and west portions. It is the most important thoroughfare in the town. January is the driest month with almost no rainfall. The precipitation is generally highest in July. During that period the average rainfall is around 180 meter.
Although June experiences some rainfall (around 80 mm on an average) it is quite warm during that period. However, the hottest month is May.
